Bad Advice...
People with an invisible illness often have to deal with suggestions and advice that imply they are not really sick, but they just aren’t trying hard enough to get better. Sometimes people are genuinely trying to be helpful, but they don’t take the time to learn about the illness…
I just raged this WHOLE TIME I was reading this. I can’t tell you how often people have done this to me and how many people just assume I’m a lazy bitch who is unwilling to help herself.
YOU try walking a mile when your leg feels like it’s coming out of the socket. YOU try exercising when your muscles are having spasms or when it feels like someone’s taking an ice pick and reaming it through your arm over and over.
Unless you’re a doctor who is well versed in what is wrong with me, please don’t tell me to do more. I do what I can and that has to be enough. If it’s not, I may as well just curl up and die right now.
30 Day Lolita Challenge Day Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen
Yeah. Ahah.
Day 11 – One day in your lolita life in pictures.
FUUU. You’re kidding, right? I barely own a camera (I have a cellphone) and I actually haven’t done anything even remotely lolita like except for sculpting clay flowers. I have to come back to this.
Day 12 – A picture of yourself before lolita came in to your life.
Well. this is embarrassing.

…well. While that IS me there under that colored fabric, I suppose this is cheating.

Happy now?
Day 13 – A picture of your favorite sweets.
What’s with all these picture ones? Dammit.

Cheesecake. Any kind, really.

30 Day Lolita Challenge Day Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine
AHAHAHA. You thought I’d be on time? You’re so funny.
Day Five- Ten items from your wishlist
This was so much harder than I thought. I couldn’t really think of ten… For ease, this will just be dresses or skirts. Not blouses or cutsews or accessories. I also don’t feel like putting pictures in.
These are in no particular order.
1) Alice and the Pirates - Beauty and the Rose Promise JSK in pink. I love princess/fairy tale themed things, so of course this belongs in my wardrobe some day.
2) Alice and the Pirates - Scent of Rapunzel JSK or OP in ivory. See above about that fairy tale thing.
3) Alice and the Pirates - Sleeping Beauty OP In ivory. Fairy tales again, but Sleeping Beauty is my absolute favorite well known fairy tale (yes, even in its original format).
4) Angelic Pretty - Angelic Garden JSK or Skirt in pink. The print on this, as far as I know, is based off the Secret Garden, which was my completely adored and treasured book as a child.
5) Angelic Pretty - Sheep Garden JSK or Skirt in pink or sax. I love sheepses, I love strawberries. I love this adorable print.
6) Angelic Pretty - Happy Garden JSK, OP, or Skirt in pink or lavender. I LOVE bunnies. You have no idea.
7) Angelic Pretty - Cherry Berry Bunny JSK in blue. See above about the bunnies.
8) Baby the Stars Shines Bright - Cinderella Jewelry OP, JSK II or JSK I, or skirt in pink or ivory. This is my absolute favorite print by Baby. It’s gorgeous. I WILL get my hands on it.
9) Innocent World - Museum Bear OP in sax. I love teddies. I love this print. It’s delicate and cute.
10) Metamorphose temps de Fille- Swan Lake OP, JSK, or skirt in wine or navy. ADORE ballet themed things. Adore this print. Swan Lake is my favorite ballet.
Day Six- 10 Things You Can’t Live Without…in Lolita
Er. Ten things? Okay.
1) Knee or OTK socks. They keep my legs warm and comfy.
2) Purse. None of my skirts or dresses have pockets, so I need a way to carry my things.
3) Petticoats. Not too much poof, just enough to look cute.
4) Lipgloss or chapstick.
5) Cute prints.
6) Cute, comfortable shoes. Likely flats.
7) Simple accessories. I don’t want to be bogged down by too many shinies.
8) Simple hair accessories/clips. I don’t want to add five pounds to my head in wigs and clips and such.
9) Parasol. I’m sensitive to the sun.
10) Short sleeved blouse paired with a bolero or cardigan. I’m sensitive to heat, so I tend to get too warm too quickly.
Day Seven- 10 People Who Inspire Your Lolita Style
I’m going to be kind of a bitch and say ‘NO ONE’. This is not a cop out, this is simply the truth. Sorry.
Day Eight- 10 songs that inspire you for lolita.
These ‘ten things’ lists are getting boring fast.
I actually don’t have any songs that really inspire my ‘lolita’, as lolita is a normal thing for me. So, can I just make a list of my top ten inspiring/favorite songs in general? Yeah. Gonna do that. Again, no particular order.
1) VNV Nation - Gratitude
2) VNV Nation- Nova
3) VNV Nation - Illusion
4) The Cure - Love Song
5) The Cure- Just Like Heaven
6) Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence
7) Assemblage 23 - Cocoon
8) Marina and the Diamonds - Girls
9) The Cure - Friday I’m in Love
10) And One - Playing Dead
Day Nine- 10 things you will never do in lolita.
Do you mean do while wearing lolita or do to the fashion itself? I’ll do it as both, I guess, as I don’t think I can think of ten of each.
1) Kick people. It doesn’t seem too fun.
2) Be a bitch. Then again, I try not to be a bitch in general, whether I’m wearing jeans or a frilly skirt. I think more people should try it, personally.
3) Wear a lot of black.
4) Let my petticoat show.
5) Let my bloomers show (too much).
6) Roll around in the sand/dirt/grass in brand (Bodyline is okay! It comes clean so easily.).
7) Garden in brand.
8) Flash people. Then again, I’d never do this in street clothes, either. Plus, it’d be pretty hard with all those layers. Unless I’d be flashing my bloomers. How sexy.
9) Commit mass murder. Or any sort of murder.
10) Go swimming. Sounds like a recipe for a fancy suicide.
It’s getting harder to keep the snark out.
30 Day Lolita Challenge - Days Two and Three
So, because I’m me and I’m notoriously bad at keeping up with challenges, I forgot yesterday’s. HAH. So, I’ll do two at once. Thankfully, they’re actually related to one another, so it all works out.
The “hate” part has a lot of ranting in it. It’s not directed at anyone in specific, I promise that, but I also understand how some of it could be potentially offensive to people.
30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day One
Day 1 – 10 things about your lolita bubble.
From what I gather, bubble is probably my world or how I view things or what I’d like in my lolita life or something. If it’s not, then…uh…That’s what I’m going with.
1) Currently, my style is sweet. It’s generally a little bit more toned down for every day wear, with a classic lolita influence. I also am a huge fan of super sweet, however, so I do things like that occasionally. Also, I really enjoy doing casual sweet lolita as well. I’m sure when I get older, I’ll probably switch completely to classic and female aristocrat.
2) I wouldn’t say my room is lolita themed, nor would I really want it to be. I have pretty boxes I keep dolls and things in, I have a small section of my room dedicated to displaying dolls, and I have some flowers here and there. I also have a few stuffed animals around. My room’s fairly eclectic at the moment, especially since I can’t do too much to it. I suppose when I move out, I’ll be more inclined to have a style of decor. It’d probably be as elegant as I could manage, unlikely to be very pink or frilly.
3) I don’t have many lolita friends, despite having a very active community in Rhode Island. They have mini-meets every month, at least, it seems and larger meets every few months. I’ve yet to go to a meet up. It’s more out of fear of not being accepted than anything else, currently.
4) I’ve been into the lolita thing ever since I’ve had the internet, pretty much. I really got into it when I was about twelve or thirteen (I’m going to be 22 in a few months, for reference). I only started actually acquiring items about two or three years ago, however.
5) I love making my own lolita accessories, even though I actually don’t wear them often.
6) I admit that if I could afford a dress form, I would set out my favorite outfits on it every once in a while. Or alternatively, I would set my goal coordination on it so I could be reminded of how awesome I’ll look in it when I get to goal. Dress forms, however, are expensive. And this princess is, unfortunately, lacking in funds.
7) I really don’t think brand is worth retail price. I really don’t think brand is worth inflated Western second hand price. I like to buy mine from Japanese auctions. Even with service fees and shipping, I still pay less than half what I would have had I bought it from the Western world. This is partially the reason why I love replicas, even though I currently don’t own any. Brand may be good quality, but I know how much it costs to make a dress, guys. I’m telling you, it isn’t anywhere near $300 or $400. Not even the labor will get you up that high. You can’t fool me, I live with a tailor. I know those dresses only have about $60 worth of materials in them.
8) I don’t really have any lolita idols or anything, nor do I even know of any. I don’t get the big deal, for the most part, and so it’s not a part of my life. I truly just dress the way I want. I have people that I think do a good job, or people I watch on YouTube because I think they have nice/informative reviews or tutorials, but I don’t idolize anyone. I’ve never been one to idolize anyone.
9) Ideally, I would like to be able to have a different outfit for each day of the month (this does not mean 30 skirts, 30 blouses, 30 cardigans, etc).
10) My wardrobe is bigger than I let on. It’s not enough.
=/
I don’t even know. Well. I’ve gotten three offers for the Jewelry Jelly JSK.
One is the pink, my least preferred color. But, it’s the most reliable offer. She provided proof, etc.
The other two are the blue, my second preferred color. One can’t provide proof or feedback at all, which makes me nervous. When I asked for them to provide, they just kind of…fell off the end of the internet and never got back to me. The second said she can provide proof and feedback, but that was two days ago. I’m giving her a few more days to get back to me (since I know we’re not all attached to our computers, etc), but if she doesn’t get back to me soon, I’m going for the pink. I don’t know if I’m going to try and haggle her down from the $265 shipped price. I might try and get her to make it $250 or something. That’d be a lot more doable for me.
Either way, I’m getting this goddamn dress. One day, I’ll own all the Jewelry Jelly stuff I want.
When the dress comes in (since I’m GOING to get it), I’ll take pictures of it. If it fits, I might even be wearing it in the photos! We’ll see.
Finally (image heavy, below the cut)
I finally posted a WTB for Jewelry Jelly. It’s my ultimate goal dress. =O I hope someone gets back to me. Once the fabric Mik bought gets in and he makes me the bag and accessories, I’ll be showing those off as well. He found some Jewelry Jelly fabric (in lavender) and bought it. Super early birthday gift for meee.
I put out a WTB for the JSKs, the skirts, the parka, the cutsew, the socks, and the hair bow. Hopefully I can get at least one of those, hopefully I get the JSK I want, the socks, and the hair bow definitely. I would LOVE the cutsew or parka, but all in due time.
For those of you unfamiliar, have some photo wank below the cut:
